Last weekend I had some fun, following the rival between iPad n Kindle. Quite amusing n interesting.
Actually, after reading a few reviews n discussions, I don't really know why ppl keep comparing them? It seems obvious enough to me that they are 2 totally different kind of devices and aim to 2 different types of consumers :|
Kindle is an e-reader, while iPad is more of a browsing/multi-tasking device. You cannot play games/surf web/etc. with Kindle, yes. But without e-ink, you cannot read books on iPad the way you do with Kindle, can you? Kindle cannot replace iPad, and vice versa. Whoever decides to buy Kindle, they've got their reasons, and they won't dump it for iPad.
And yet, ppl still keep comparing them XD And that's how Kindle's enjoying free publicity from Apple's lime light. We all know how the media loveeee Apple. By being compared to iPad, Kindle's being covered all over the Internet, to the extend that I wonder if Amazon actually paid ppl to do so XD Did you know about Kindle's existence before all these? If not, then now you do, thanks to iPad.
I'd be happy if I'm Amazon's marketing directors.
(I myself vaguely knew about sth called e-readers, thanks to IT1001 :|, but didn't know about those e-ink technology stuffs. well, think it's gonna be nice to have sth like that. If I were rich, I might even get one. If. Sigh)
Ku-fucking-dos to Apple. Virtually anyone on the internet now knows about the iPad.
ReplyDelete"You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them."
I truly thank all the haters.
hehe, true.
ReplyDeleteNo one can ignore them.
That's why I'm saying how lucky Kindle is to be compared with the iPad.
It's like the fastest way to shoot to fame, man.
The truth is no-one remembers Kindle after a few months.
ReplyDeleteBtw I saw someone carried a Kindle on bus yesterday.
the part about "The truth is no-one remembers Kindle after a few months", I don't want to argue much. Remembering it or not, it depends on ur need. Some people may need sth like that, but they didn't know it exists. U can't deny the fact that Kindle's awareness was boosted, and when there's more awareness, there's more chance/opportunity.
ReplyDeleteEven if ppl forget about it after a few month, I don't think their sales will be affected negatively XD It's just either better, or stay the same.
